PDN Validation Engineer - Actalent
Software Engineer
Lead validation of power subsystems for Surface products, developing test strategies, debugging complex power issues, and collaborating with hardware and software teams to improve PDN performance and design quality.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute validation plans for power delivery networks in Surface devices, covering component, board‑level, and system‑level testing.
- Debug and resolve complex power‑related issues, using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and software tools to isolate root causes.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and software teams to integrate validation feedback into design revisions and improve overall product reliability.
- Generate detailed test reports, data analyses, and recommendations that drive design optimizations for efficiency, EMI compliance, and thermal performance.
- Maintain and enhance test infrastructure, including automated scripts (Python) and lab equipment, to increase test coverage and repeatability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; 3+ years of experience in power subsystem validation or similar roles.
- Strong knowledge of Power Delivery Network concepts, signal integrity, and PCB layout principles.
- Proficiency with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers) and scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience working cross‑functionally with hardware and software teams to drive design improvements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
