About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Oracle Database Developer with strong administration exposure to join our team, working primarily on Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB-S) in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in PL/SQL development, data modelling, and query optimisation, along with working knowledge of managing and securing cloud-native Oracle databases. This role is development-focused, with administration responsibilities largely centred on cloud-managed environments rather than traditional on-premises DBA tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle database objects – tables, views, indexes, sequences, triggers, packages, procedures, and functions – on Oracle ADB-S.
- Develop efficient, well-structured PL/SQL code for enterprise applications, leveraging ADB-S features such as JSON support, REST-enabled SQL, and Autonomous performance advisors.
- Write and optimise complex SQL queries for high-performance data retrieval and reporting.
- Support application teams with database design, data modelling, and query optimisation for cloud-hosted applications.
- Perform SQL tuning using Oracle’s Autonomous Database tuning advisors and execution plan analysis.
- Develop and execute data migration scripts, including on-premises-to-cloud and cross-schema migrations.
- Implement database security standards within ADB-S, including roles, privileges, Data Safe policies, and auditing.
- Provision, configure, and manage Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB-S) instances via the OCI Console, CLI, and APIs.
- Monitor database health, performance, storage, and auto-scaling behaviour within OCI.
- Manage backup and recovery using ADB-S’s automated backup capabilities; support disaster recovery readiness via Autonomous Data Guard.
- Support minimal-downtime patching and version updates (largely automated in ADB-S, but requires validation and coordination).
- Monitor and resolve locks, deadlocks, and performance bottlenecks using OCI-native monitoring tools and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), where applicable.
- Manage database users, wallets, and access controls, including integration with OCI IAM.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution in collaboration with cloud infrastructure teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database Development, with working exposure to database administration.
- Strong PL/SQL and SQL programming skills, including packages, procedures, functions, and triggers.
