Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021. As a OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST (DATA SCIENTIST) at the GS-1515-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Perform data analytics and modeling for assigned projects under the close direction of senior analysts or the supervisor, applying established analytical techniques to defined problems.
- Assist in the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines and analytic tools, following established data engineering standards, documented methodologies, and reproducibility practices
- Support the development of user-focused analytics and decision-support products to inform DHRA decision makers and policy analysts, with regular review and feedback from senior staff.
- Assist in engaging with stakeholders to clarify analytic requirements, and prepare briefings, reports, and visualizations to communicate results for assigned projects.
- Contribute to analytic project efforts-including cyber workforce and installation mapping analyses-by supporting project planning, tracking, and reporting, and assisting senior staff in applying new tools and methodologies.
