Systems Engineer
Mid‑level Network/System Administrator responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting LAN/WAN infrastructure, designing network models, and providing technical support for government systems using Cisco, Windows Server, and virtualization technologies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, intranet, and other data communication systems for a government organization.
- Design, model, and analyze network architectures to meet security and performance requirements.
- Participate in hardware and software procurement decisions to modernize the infrastructure.
- Provide tier‑2 technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving connectivity and system issues.
- Implement and manage network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience administering LAN/WAN environments, preferably in a government or high‑security setting.
- Proficiency with Cisco routing/switching equipment and Windows Server administration.
- Hands‑on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) and network monitoring tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to support end‑user hardware/software issues.
- Knowledge of network security best practices and experience with VPN, firewall, and access control configurations.
