Systems Engineer
Manage and secure enterprise and tactical networks for the Army, providing real‑time monitoring, incident response, and architecture improvements using Cisco technologies, SD‑WAN, and automation scripting.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor enterprise and tactical network performance 24/7, identifying and resolving faults before they impact mission‑critical operations.
- Implement and maintain security controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents in accordance with DoD policies.
- Design, configure, and optimize Cisco routing and switching infrastructure, including SD‑WAN overlays.
- Develop automation scripts (Python) to streamline routine tasks, generate reports, and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and command teams to evolve network architecture, ensuring scalability, resilience, and compliance.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in network operations, preferably in a defense or government environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS/IOS‑XE, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and TCP/IP fundamentals.
- Proficiency in network security practices, incident response, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Hands‑on scripting experience, especially Python, for automation and monitoring.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desired.
