ML Applied Research Manager - adobe

The Adobe Research ASML (Applied Research Machine Learning) team seeks an experienced ML Applied Research Manager to lead applied research on generative AI for Adobe Firefly, Adobe Express, and Enterprise products.

Your role will involve leading research and development across image generation and editing, design generation and editing, and custom Enterprise models. You will also be responsible for guiding the team end-to-end, from model architectures and training recipes through the data and inference systems that ship them at scale.

What you'll do:

Lead and manage a team of up to 10 people;

Guide team through research, technical design, implementation, delivery, and productization of generative AI models;

Influence design decisions and technical direction for engineers, researchers, product managers and senior leaders;

Ensure transparency of project status to partners ;

Lead each team member's performance, employing ongoing performance feedback and coaching;

Develop and evolve research and engineering processes to optimize team efficiency;

Hire and manage a team of exceptional applied researchers and machine learning engineers, overseeing implementation and research processes;

Create a team culture that emphasizes excellence in applied research and engineering;

Encourage deep customer engagement and out of the box thinking;

Work closely with teams and managers across Adobe, in different geographies;

The technology you produce will have visibility at the highest levels of the company and materially affect the positive impact products have on our customers.

Requirements:

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field;

Experience with generative models for image or multimodal content is a big plus

5+ years of experience as an engineering or research manager, leading teams that built complex ML systems or shipped applied research to production

Experience in building and leading teams with multiple ML engineers and researchers

Demonstrated ability to build a diverse team of top engineers and ML researchers in a competitive job market

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions

Strong working knowledge of modern software development and research methodologies and software design patterns

Outstanding ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to partner teams
