Security Engineer
Mid-level Cyber Security Engineer responsible for operating, configuring, and maintaining security infrastructure, integrating cyber defense tools, and supporting advanced cyber initiatives across Navy Federal Credit Union environments.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection across Linux and Windows environments.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts, performing triage, investigation, and remediation of cyber‑based threats.
- Integrate and automate security processes between Advanced Cyber Initiatives (ACI) applications and other enterprise systems.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison for analysts, providing guidance on tool usage, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Python) to streamline repetitive tasks, reporting, and data collection.
- Document configurations, procedures, and incident response actions to ensure knowledge continuity.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration or engineering with a focus on security operations.
- Hands‑on experience with Linux and Windows Server platforms, including hardening and patch management.
- Proficiency in using and managing SIEM solutions and firewall technologies.
- Strong scripting skills, preferably Python, for automation and data handling.
- Solid understanding of network security concepts, threat detection, and incident response processes.
