Software Engineer
Provide technical support for material testing and quality assurance in the Southcoast Region, coordinating lab activities, analyzing results, and preparing reports while ensuring compliance with state standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations of the materials laboratory, including sample receipt, preparation, and testing.
- Perform standard material tests (e.g., compressive strength, moisture content, gradation) and record accurate results.
- Assist the Quality Assurance Engineer with data validation, trend analysis, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare technical reports, test certificates, and summary sheets for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, calibrations, and inventory of supplies.
- Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and recommending best practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s or higher degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a construction or transportation materials laboratory.
- Proficiency with material testing equipment and strong data analysis skills, especially using Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of state QA/QC procedures and ability to follow detailed technical specifications.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.
