Systems Engineer
Experienced Manufacturing Network Systems Engineer needed to design, implement, and maintain shop‑floor network infrastructure for a high‑tech battery production line, leveraging industrial Ethernet, PLC communication, and Cisco switching while ensuring security and reliability.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy robust industrial Ethernet networks that connect production equipment, PLCs, and control systems across the battery manufacturing floor.
- Configure, program, and troubleshoot Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls to support VLAN segmentation, QoS, and secure remote access.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, controls, and IT teams to integrate network solutions with automation platforms and SCADA/HMI systems.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and device hardening, to protect critical production data.
- Provide on‑site support for network incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and document resolutions to minimize downtime.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and supporting industrial network infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Profinet) and experience configuring networked PLCs.
- Hands‑on expertise with Cisco switching/routing hardware, VLAN design, and network monitoring tools.
- Demonstrated ability to apply network security best practices in an OT setting.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering and IT teams.
