Join our innovative manufacturing team as a Manufacturing Automation Engineer and be at the forefront of advancing industrial automation processes! The Manufacturing Automation Engineer designs, builds, programs, documents, and supports custom manufacturing equipment and automated process systems.
This hands-on role combines mechanical design, industrial controls, motion systems, electrical integration, and software development. The engineer will serve as the primary technical resource for equipment development, troubleshooting, improvement, and long-term support.
Duties
- Design and develop custom manufacturing equipment, fixtures, enclosures, and process systems using Autodesk Fusion.
- Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and as-built documentation.
- Select and integrate mechanical, electrical, controls, motion, safety, and instrumentation components.
- Program and support PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, drives, valves, interlocks, and CNC-style motion systems.
- Develop and maintain C# Windows Forms applications using Microsoft Visual Studio, or similar.
- Integrate software with PLCs, motion controllers, sensors, and other equipment hardware.
- Support equipment fabrication, assembly, wiring, commissioning, installation, and qualification.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, software, communication, and process-equipment issues.
- Improve equipment reliability, uptime, repeatability, maintainability, safety, and operator usability.
- Develop preventive-maintenance requirements, troubleshooting guides, spare-parts lists, and service procedures.
- Manage engineering changes and maintain current mechanical, electrical, controls, and software documentation.
- Work with operators, technicians, fabricators, vendors, and contractors to complete equipment projects and resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, controls, automation, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Three or more years of experience designing, building, programming, or supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems.
- Experience integrating sensors, motors, drives, valves, relays, motion controllers, and safety devices.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD and production-ready equipment documentation.
- Experience developing C# applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and Windows Forms.
- Ability to read and create mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems.
- Ability to independently take equipment projects from concept through commissioning and production support.
