Site Reliability Engineer
Lead commercial delivery for a 10‑year rail renewal programme, managing costs, contracts and value engineering across electrification and plant works in the Southern region.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Own the commercial strategy for the Electrification & Plant package, ensuring value delivery across the 10‑year Southern Renewals Enterprise.
- Lead cost estimation, budgeting and financial monitoring for a portfolio of works valued in the multi‑million range.
- Negotiate and administer contracts, manage risk, and drive compliance with Network Rail and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement and project teams to optimise value and mitigate cost overruns.
- Provide expert advice on commercial matters to senior stakeholders and support decision‑making.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in large rail or infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering cost savings and value engineering.
- Excellent negotiation, contract management and stakeholder communication skills.
- Knowledge of Network Rail processes and UK rail procurement frameworks.
- Ability to work independently within a high‑profile, long‑term programme.
