Machine Learning Research Engineer / Scientist
ML Engineer
Research engineer developing foundation models that read entire CT scans, improving accuracy and speed for radiology AI, with end‑to‑end pipelines from training to FDA‑cleared deployment in hospital reading rooms.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design and train large‑scale vision models that process full‑volume CT studies rather than individual slices.
- Develop and optimize data pipelines for medical imaging, including preprocessing, augmentation, and annotation handling.
- Collaborate with clinicians and regulatory teams to ensure models meet FDA clearance requirements and perform reliably in live hospital environments.
- Conduct rapid experiments, benchmark performance, and iterate to achieve state‑of‑the‑art accuracy and inference speed.
- Publish research findings, contribute to open‑source tools, and stay current with advances in foundation models and multimodal AI.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Python with extensive experience using PyTorch or TensorFlow for deep learning.
- Proven track record in computer vision or medical imaging research, preferably with 3D volumetric data.
- Understanding of FDA regulatory processes for AI‑based medical devices and experience navigating clearance pathways.
- Ability to translate research prototypes into production‑ready pipelines that scale to hospital workloads.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset for working with radiologists, product managers, and engineering teams.
