About the Role
Bungie is seeking a Machine Learning Director to establish and lead a new ML (Machine Learning) team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Analytics, the ML Director will identify opportunities to apply ML methodologies, and work with leaders in Central Tech, Development, and Marketing to deploy ML services into production. You will focus on services that feed game personalization, optimize storefront commercialization, drive marketing optimizations, and create internal tools that help our teams operate more efficiently.
Bungie is early in our ML journey, so you will build the plan to develop capabilities, staff your team, and align with partner groups on roadmap initiatives. In the preliminary stages you will focus on opportunities that use existing technologies and public libraries. As a new team, we are looking to move fast and realize wins with low hanging fruit.
During these uncertain times and rapidly changing environment surrounding COVID-19, all positions at Bungie are subject to onboarding and working virtually/remotely.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to apply Machine Learning methods to grow the Bungie business and improve internal processes.
- Work with Dev, Central Tech, and Marketing to build the 2023 and 2024 cross-functional Machine Learning roadmap for Bungie.
- Define data requirements and build workflows to capture and process the data so it’s ready for modeling.
- Define staffing requirements to execute the roadmap.
- Hire and train a team to realize the ML vision.
- Build long term ops management plans to maintain quality in a growing suite of services.
- Stay up to date on new methods and technologies.
Required Skills
- Experience working in a cloud data environment to build, deploy, and manage models in a live service environment.
- Mastery of a broad range of machine learning algorithms, and the ability to identify the right model for the business case and available data.
- Proficient with SQL and Python.
- The ability to work through others and develop more junior team members.
- The drive to collaborate with stakeholders to generate requirements, translate requirements into a clearly scoped project, and work with your team and stakeholders to deliver results.
- Experience managing competing projects and working with stakeholders to establish clear prioritization.
- Experience working with Ops teams and domain experts to build and execute plans to update and manage live models.
- The ability to efficiently communicate exec-ready, accessible results through data, including data visualization skills.
- The ability to identify the business value of potential projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to build an ROI-based business case.
- Knowledge of experimental design best practices.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and polish.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
