Experienced Linux Systems Administrator/Engineer to sustain mission‑critical Space Domain Awareness systems, focusing on system optimization, security, and automation in a high‑availability environment.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux servers supporting real‑time Space Domain Awareness applications.
- Implement automation using shell scripts and configuration management tools to improve deployment speed and reliability.
- Configure, monitor, and secure network services and firewalls to ensure continuous connectivity.
- Apply security hardening standards, perform vulnerability assessments, and manage patch cycles.
- Manage virtualized environments (KVM/VMware) and storage resources to meet performance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve incidents and support system upgrades.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on Linux system administration in a mission‑critical or defense environment.
- Proficiency in Bash/Python scripting for automation and monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Experience with security frameworks (DISA STIG, NIST) and vulnerability remediation.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms and performance tuning of Linux workloads.
