Systems Engineer
L2 Linux System Engineer responsible for administering CentOS/Ubuntu web‑hosting environments, configuring Apache/Nginx, troubleshooting kernel issues, and handling alerts in an Operations Control Center.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux‑based web hosting infrastructure (CentOS, Ubuntu) using command‑line tools.
- Configure, tune, and troubleshoot Apache and Nginx web servers, including virtual host management.
- Diagnose kernel‑level problems such as high load, memory pressure, kernel panics, and hung processes using logs and performance tools.
- Monitor alerts, assess impact, perform initial mitigation, and document actions for escalation.
- Analyze suspicious or abusive network connections and implement appropriate security measures.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands‑on Linux system administration experience, preferably with CentOS and Ubuntu.
- Strong proficiency in Bash scripting and command‑line operations.
- In‑depth knowledge of Apache and Nginx configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience diagnosing kernel issues and using system logs, perf, strace, or similar tools.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 Operations Control Center environment, prioritize alerts, and produce clear documentation.
