Software Engineer
Mechanical Engineer specializing in Life Support Systems for commercial space stations, leveraging thermal analysis, CFD, and advanced CAD/FEA to design reliable, lightweight components that ensure crew safety and mission success.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and validate life support subsystems (air, water, temperature control) for a commercial space station.
- Perform thermal and fluid dynamics simulations (CFD) to optimize subsystem performance under microgravity conditions.
- Develop detailed CAD models and conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure structural integrity and compliance with spaceflight standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (systems, propulsion, avionics) to integrate life support solutions into the overall station architecture.
- Lead prototype testing, troubleshoot design issues, and iterate solutions to meet stringent safety and reliability requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing life support or environmental control systems for aerospace or high‑reliability environments.
- Strong understanding of thermal management, fluid systems, and materials selection for space applications.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
