Lead the design and integration of satellite‑based communication systems, driving architecture, hardware‑software interfaces, and performance validation for a commercial optical data‑relay constellation.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own end‑to‑end system architecture for on‑demand space connectivity, including RF, optical, and on‑orbit compute subsystems.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to develop hardware‑software interfaces, ensuring seamless integration of payloads, antennas, and ground‑segment components.
- Develop and execute verification and validation plans, performing simulations, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and on‑orbit performance analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and drive continuous improvement of design processes and documentation.
- Collaborate with product, launch, and operations teams to translate mission requirements into robust, scalable system solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of systems engineering experience in satellite communications or related aerospace domains.
- Strong expertise in optical data‑relay technologies, RF link budgets, and on‑orbit compute architectures.
- Proficiency in Python and C++ for modeling, automation, and embedded software development.
- Hands‑on experience with Linux‑based flight software environments and hardware‑in‑the‑loop test rigs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects from concept through launch and operations.
