Systems Engineer
Lead the design, integration, and validation of photonics systems that power next‑generation AI, data center, PC, gaming, and embedded solutions, driving performance, reliability, and innovation across AMD’s product portfolio.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end photonics system design, from concept through prototype to production, ensuring alignment with performance, cost, and manufacturability goals.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (electronics, firmware, software, and manufacturing) to integrate photonics subsystems into high‑speed computing, AI, and gaming platforms.
- Develop and execute rigorous test plans, failure analysis, and validation protocols to guarantee system reliability and compliance with industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging simulation, modeling, and data analytics to optimize optical performance and yield.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in photonics system engineering, with a strong background in optical design, integration, and testing.
- Proficiency in optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, Lumerical) and familiarity with semiconductor photonics technologies.
- Solid understanding of high‑speed data center, AI, PC, gaming, and embedded system architectures.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, strong communication, and the ability to lead cross‑functional projects.
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
