Lead Mechanical Engineer driving design, analysis, and qualification of space‑qualified hardware for GEO, MEO, LEO, and cislunar missions, leveraging advanced CAD, FEA, and thermal modeling to ensure mission success.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end mechanical design of space hardware, ensuring compliance with mission and environmental requirements.
- Perform advanced finite element analysis to validate structural integrity under launch, vibration, and thermal loads.
- Develop and maintain SolidWorks models, assemblies, and detailed drawings for production and qualification.
- Collaborate with propulsion, thermal, and materials teams to integrate subsystem interfaces and optimize performance.
- Drive qualification testing, including vibration, acoustic, and thermal vacuum campaigns, and analyze test data to refine designs.
- Mentor junior engineers, review work, and provide technical guidance across multidisciplinary projects.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of aerospace experience.
- Proven expertise in space‑qualified hardware design, FEA, and SolidWorks.
- Strong knowledge of thermal analysis, materials selection, and propulsion system integration.
- Experience leading qualification testing and interpreting test results.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
