Lead Engineering Technician overseeing complex mechanical assemblies, test equipment, and safety protocols while providing technical guidance and documentation for aerospace projects.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical assembly, integration, and checkout of aerospace hardware across multiple NASA centers.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain test equipment and instrumentation to support flight and ground‑test programs.
- Develop and update 3‑D CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks) to reflect design changes and as‑built configurations.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues through systematic troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and mentor junior technicians on best practices.
- Produce clear technical documentation, work orders, and test reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in mechanical assembly, test support, or related aerospace engineering environments.
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent) and familiarity with engineering drawing standards.
- Strong knowledge of test equipment operation, calibration procedures, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to enforce safety regulations and conduct risk assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and team coordination.
