Systems Engineer
Lead Data Operations professional driving the evolution of a modern cancer data platform, ensuring reliable data integrity, integration, and analytics to support clinical care, research, and system planning across Alberta.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Data Environment for Cancer Inquiries and Decisions (DECIDe), ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, architects, and clinical stakeholders to define data models, pipelines, and integration strategies.
- Oversee data quality processes, including validation, cleansing, and lineage tracking, to support accurate analytics and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement of data workflows, adopting modern cloud and big‑data technologies to scale the platform.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on best practices in data engineering and analytics.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data operations within a healthcare or large enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) for data pipeline development.
- Strong understanding of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience with data governance, security, and compliance in regulated settings.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with clinical and technical teams.
