About Zego
At Zego, we know that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It’s too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't take into account how well you actually drive. That’s why, since 2016, we’ve been on a mission to change all of that. Our mission at Zego is to offer the lowest priced insurance for good drivers. From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are our driving force — they’re at the heart of everything we do. We’ve sold tens of millions of policies so far, and raised over $200 million in funding. And we’re only just getting started.
Overview of the Product Team
Product Managers at Zego are change-makers. We build and scale data-driven, impactful solutions that enable Zego to offer competitive and personalised insurance. Working in a fast-paced Agile environment, our team thrives on innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and driving measurable outcomes. We’re building a product organisation where AI isn’t a buzzword - it’s how we work. From rapid prototyping with generative AI to using machine learning models that power our core pricing, our PMs operate at the frontier of what technology can do for insurance. From enhancing pricing models to streamlining digital experiences, our Product team is instrumental in shaping the future of insurance.
About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Product Manager who combines strategic depth with a hands-on builder’s instinct. You’ll own strategic workstreams that span multiple teams and business domains, defining the 6-12 month product direction and shaping how Zego’s products evolve to meet ambitious commercial targets. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and leadership. You’ll define new product mechanics and revenue models. You’ll make build-vs-buy-vs-partner recommendations that shape Zego’s competitive position. And you’ll champion an experiment-first culture - using AI to compress discovery cycles, generate sharper insights, and ship at a velocity that sets the standard for the rest of the organisation. You’ll work closely with Zego’s Leadership Team on strategic decisions, lead cross-functional programmes, and mentor Product Managers - raising the bar for how the entire product community operates.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Set strategic direction: Define strategy for the 6-12 month horizon. Shape product operating models and governance. Make build-vs-buy-vs-partner recommendations that directly influence Zego’s competitive position.
- Define new product mechanics and revenue models: Identify and validate new revenue opportunities - from 0-to-1 propositions to upsell and retention loops. Ground every bet in unit economics and customer insight, not gut feel.
- Architect an experiment-led culture: Embed rigorous experimentation (A/B testing, multivariate, rapid prototyping) into how your teams work. Replace opinion-driven roadmaps with a data-backed cadence where “rate of learning” is the leading metric.
- Champion AI adoption across Product: Go beyond personal AI use - develop reusable AI playbooks, workflows, and assets that multiply the team’s output. Identify where AI tools can materially accelerate product development, content generation, data analysis, and decision-making across the organisation.
- Lead with data at every level: Design the product metrics and dashboards used by the business. Be proficient in gathering and using financial, behavioural, and usage data to ground strategic decisions. You’re as comfortable in Snowflake as you are in a board-level strategy review.
- Drive company-level initiatives with P&L impact: Own programmes that move core business metrics. Be accountable for commercial outcomes, not just feature delivery.
- Lead cross-functional workstreams: Partner with engineering, data science, design, marketing, legal, and compliance to ensure your strategy is technically feasible, commercially viable, and delivered with velocity.
- Mentor and develop PMs: Manage the product community of practice. Coach Product Managers across the organisation, instilling a customer-first, experiment-first mindset and raising the bar for data capabilities and product craft.
- Engage with the Leadership Team: Present strategic recommendations, lead pivots and sunset decisions, and shape how Product is represented in company-wide decision-making.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Strategic product leadership: Significant experience leading product strategy across multiple teams or domains, ideally in a high-growth environment. You’ve defined product operating models, shaped governance, and made decisions that moved business-level metrics.
- Experiment-first operator: Deep, hands-on experience designing rigorous experiments and rapid prototypes. You’ve built experiment cultures - not just run individual tests. You instil the “build-measure-learn” loop as the default operating rhythm for your teams.
- Commercial and financial fluency: Deep understanding of unit economics, pricing levers, and revenue modelling. You prioritise based on expected commercial impact and can credibly partner with Finance and Leadership on P&L-level decisions.
- AI as a force multiplier: You don’t just use AI tools yourself - you’ve built AI-enabled workflows, playbooks, or toolchains that made your team measurably faster. You can point to concrete examples of how AI has materially accelerated your or your team’s product development.
- Data mastery: Proficient in gathering and using financial, behavioural, and usage data to make strategic decisions. You design the metrics and dashboards that the business relies on.
- Technical depth: Comfortable engaging with engineers on system architecture, APIs, ML pipelines, and service design. You understand the technical trade-offs well enough to make informed strategic bets.
- Outstanding communication and influence: You engage with the Leadership Team on strategic decisions, lead cross-functional workstreams, and bring stakeholders along through clarity and conviction - not hierarchy.
- Builder mentality: You’re not just a strategist. You’re comfortable acting as an IC when needed, getting into the detail, and leading a squad directly when the situation calls for it.
- People development: Proven track record of mentoring and developing PMs. You actively contribute to the broader product community, not just your own area.
