Lead AI Engineer AI Foundations, LLM Customization & Finetuning - Capital One

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement end‑to‑end AI pipelines for LLM customization and finetuning, ensuring scalability and reliability on cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product teams to define model objectives, evaluate performance, and iterate on training data and hyperparameters.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, including bias mitigation, explainability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote a culture of continuous learning and experimentation.
• Monitor model health in production, troubleshoot issues, and implement automated retraining workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on large language models.
• Hands‑on experience deploying models on AWS (SageMaker, ECS, Lambda) and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep understanding of responsible AI principles, bias detection, and model explainability techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
