LAN & Data Center Support Engineer
Software Engineer
Provide onsite, hands‑on support for LAN and data‑center infrastructure, handling physical layer tasks such as cabling, patching, rack work, and coordinating with L1‑L3 engineers to ensure reliable network operations.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical layer support including installation, termination, and testing of fiber and copper cabling.
- Manage rack space, patch panels, and equipment placement to maintain organized and efficient data‑center layouts.
- Execute link tracing, fault isolation, and basic troubleshooting for LAN connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with L1, L2, and L3 engineering teams to deliver accurate smart‑hands assistance during deployments and incidents.
- Document changes, update schematics, and maintain inventory of network hardware and cabling assets.
Requirements
- Proven experience with LAN and data‑center environments, including cabling standards (TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).
- Hands‑on knowledge of rack mounting, patch panel configuration, and hardware installation.
- Ability to trace, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper links using appropriate tools.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multi‑level engineering teams.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently on site with minimal supervision.
