About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, prototype, and iterate on new gameplay features, quests, and systems for RuneScape.
- Write, test, and debug content using RuneScript, collaborating closely with senior designers and engineers.
- Balance game mechanics and player progression to ensure a rewarding experience for a large, active player base.
- Document design specifications, create design documents, and maintain clear communication across multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand‑ups, and play‑testing sessions to refine content based on feedback.
Requirements
- Passion for MMOs and a strong understanding of player‑centric game design principles.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., RuneScript, Python, Lua) and a willingness to learn the in‑house toolset.
- Ability to think systemically, balance mechanics, and iterate quickly based on data and player feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting designs and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version‑control workflows.
