Systems Engineer
The IT Systems Engineer II will manage and modernize hybrid data‑center environments, overseeing power, cooling, networking, and security infrastructure while providing advanced support for mission‑critical systems.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain county data centers, MDF/IDF rooms, UPS, PDU, and cooling systems to ensure 24/7 availability.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Windows Server and VMware vSphere environments supporting critical applications.
- Manage structured cabling, physical security, and environmental monitoring using DCIM tools.
- Implement and document infrastructure upgrades, including power, networking, and virtualization components.
- Collaborate with the Platform Services team to develop standards, capacity plans, and disaster‑recovery procedures.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in data‑center operations, including power, cooling, and environmental monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and VMware vSphere virtualization.
- Proficiency with Cisco networking hardware and PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Experience using DCIM platforms for asset tracking, capacity planning, and reporting.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.
