Software Engineer
Provides comprehensive systems administration for mission‑critical networks, managing Windows servers, virtualization, Active Directory, and network security tools to ensure reliable communications for the 292nd Combat Communications Squadron.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, including file, print, and DHCP services.
- Manage Active Directory objects, group policies, and user authentication across the squadron’s network.
- Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot VMware virtual machines and related infrastructure.
- Develop and execute PowerShell scripts for automation of routine administrative tasks.
- Configure, maintain, and secure Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls to support operational communications.
- Provide tier‑2/3 technical support, resolve incidents, and document solutions in accordance with ITIL best practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent military training.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in systems administration, preferably in a defense or public‑sector environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server (2012/2016/2019), Active Directory, and VMware virtualization.
- Strong scripting skills using PowerShell; ability to automate system tasks.
- Knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, network security principles, and troubleshooting methodologies.
