Software Engineer
IT Software Development Administrator supporting Bristol-based development teams, managing secure and efficient toolsets, environments, and hardware/software troubleshooting to enable smooth product delivery.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day IT support for software and hardware development teams, resolving issues quickly to maintain productivity.
- Own and maintain the development toolchain, including IDEs, build servers, version control, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring they are secure, up‑to‑date, and aligned with project needs.
- Collaborate with the Head of IT to implement security best practices, perform regular vulnerability assessments, and enforce access controls across development environments.
- Manage and provision development workstations, virtual machines, and cloud resources, optimizing performance and cost efficiency.
- Document processes, create knowledge base articles, and conduct training sessions for developers on new tools and procedures.
Requirements
- 3+ years of IT support or systems administration experience in a software development setting.
- Hands‑on experience with version control (Git), CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of Windows/Linux server administration, networking fundamentals, and security principles.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
