About the Role
The IT Manager is responsible for the overall strategy, implementation, and maintenance of all technology systems and infrastructure for KIPP Baltimore. This includes managing network infrastructure, hardware, software, and providing technical support to staff and students across all school locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with KIPP Baltimore’s mission and goals.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, LAN, and WAN, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Oversee the procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of all hardware (laptops, desktops, projectors, interactive whiteboards, etc.) and software.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for staff and students, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
- Manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other directory services.
- Administer and support cloud-based services such as Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace.
- Implement and manage mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
- Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures, including data security, privacy, and acceptable use policies.
- Manage and maintain Windows Servers, ensuring system updates, backups, and disaster recovery plans are in place.
- Monitor system performance and security, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
- Develop and deliver IT training programs for staff to enhance technology proficiency.
- Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
- Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets and licenses.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in educational technology.
- Manage the IT budget and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in IT management, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of network management, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, MDM, and GPO.
- Proficiency in Windows Server environments.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace administration.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, batch scripting) and SQL is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data backup, disaster recovery, and network security best practices.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive IT documentation.
