Software Engineer
IT Field Engineer responsible for maintaining high‑performance client environments across Berkshire and Wiltshire, providing proactive support, troubleshooting, and building trusted relationships using Windows, Linux, and network technologies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain client‑side hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network, server, and workstation issues on-site and remotely.
- Act as the primary liaison between clients and internal technical teams, translating technical details into clear, actionable guidance.
- Document all incidents, solutions, and best‑practice recommendations in the ticketing system.
- Conduct regular health checks, performance tuning, and preventive maintenance to reduce future incidents.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in IT field support or systems administration.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel to client sites as needed.
