Provides advanced information security support for the Alabama National Guard, managing risk assessments, incident response, and security audits while ensuring compliance with federal cyber‑defense standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability scans on Army National Guard information systems to identify and remediate security gaps.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with DoD and NIST guidelines.
- Lead incident response activities, including detection, analysis, containment, and post‑incident reporting.
- Perform security audits, configuration reviews, and compliance checks for hardware, software, and network assets.
- Provide technical guidance and training to personnel on information security best practices and emerging threats.
Requirements
- Active or eligible Top Secret/SCI clearance with a favorable background investigation.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in network security, risk assessment, and incident response within a military or federal environment.
- Proficiency with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST SP 800‑53) and ability to apply them to mission‑critical systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear security reports for senior leadership.
