Lead instrumentation engineering for the Challenger 3 Trials Programme, delivering high‑quality, reliable data acquisition and analysis using advanced control systems, PLCs, CAN bus, and MATLAB/Simulink to support defence vehicle testing.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of instrumentation systems for the Challenger 3 Trials Programme.
- Ensure accurate, high‑quality data capture and integrity across all test events.
- Collaborate with test, verification and systems engineering teams to integrate instrumentation with vehicle platforms.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, data acquisition scripts and analysis workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior instrumentation staff.
Requirements
- Proven experience in instrumentation engineering for defence or complex vehicle systems.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming, CAN bus, and data acquisition hardware.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and data analysis tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, on‑site environment.
