Security Engineer
Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure infrastructure solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management, while automating security tasks with scripting to protect Marine Corps networks and systems.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and manage firewall and network security devices to enforce security policies across the enterprise.
- Implement, monitor, and tune IDS/IPS solutions to detect and respond to threats in real time.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, prioritize remediation, and track mitigation efforts across all infrastructure components.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) for security provisioning, compliance checks, and incident response.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and leadership teams to integrate security controls into system architectures and change management processes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure security, including firewall and IDS/IPS administration.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common attack vectors.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and tooling.
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and remediation workflows.
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, GSEC) or equivalent hands‑on experience.
