Software Engineer
Lead system administration for a large military depot, managing Windows and Linux servers, networking, security, and virtualization environments to ensure reliable, secure operations.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux operating systems across the depot’s infrastructure.
- Manage network services, including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configurations to support secure communications.
- Implement and monitor virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) for optimal resource utilization.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation of routine tasks and system monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and apply patches and updates.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support mission‑critical applications and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of system administration experience in a large, mission‑critical environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Linux, PowerShell, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and security best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
