Systems Engineer
Information Systems Engineer responsible for leading security initiatives, managing configuration control, and supporting network and system operations in a government environment, leveraging expertise in cybersecurity, Linux, and Windows platforms.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary security point of contact, overseeing risk assessments, vulnerability remediation, and compliance reporting.
- Lead configuration management processes, including baseline establishment, change control, and audit trails for mission‑critical systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures, ensuring proper segmentation, firewall rule sets, and intrusion detection capabilities.
- Provide hands‑on support for both Linux and Windows environments, performing system hardening, patch management, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and government stakeholders to align technical solutions with regulatory requirements and mission objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; 5+ years of experience in information systems engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF) and hands‑on experience with security tools.
- Proficiency in configuration management tools and processes (e.g., Git, SCCM, Ansible).
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and firewall technologies.
- Experience administering and securing Linux and Windows operating systems in a high‑availability environment.
