Information Systems Engineer responsible for maintaining shipboard IT infrastructure, ensuring safety‑critical systems stay operational, and delivering reliable network, server, and virtualization support for crew and guests.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot shipboard network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Administer Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability of critical applications and guest services.
- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware) to provision, update, and secure virtual machines used for operations and entertainment.
- Implement and support safety‑related technologies such as surveillance, access control, and emergency communication systems.
- Collaborate with the Information Systems Manager to develop and enforce IT security policies, perform vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in network and systems administration, preferably in a maritime or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco networking equipment, Windows Server, Linux, and VMware virtualization.
- Hands‑on experience with cybersecurity best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and incident response.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, VCP, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
