Security Engineer
Perform network security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and cyber hygiene training for U.S. Air Force installations, ensuring robust protection of military networks across multiple CONUS sites.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments of base‑level network environments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigations.
- Perform hands‑on vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and risk analysis to support cyber hygiene initiatives.
- Develop and deliver security awareness and training programs for personnel at Joint Base Langley‑Eustis and other CONUS locations.
- Collaborate with Air Force IT and cyber teams to implement security controls, hardening procedures, and incident response plans.
- Document findings, produce detailed assessment reports, and track remediation progress with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience in network security assessment, vulnerability management, and security auditing within a government or defense environment.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF) and risk management processes.
- Proficiency with security tools such as Nessus, Nmap, Wireshark, or similar scanning and analysis platforms.
- Ability to travel frequently to multiple CONUS sites and work onsite with military personnel.
- Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
