Security Engineer
Protect power plant control systems by designing, implementing, and monitoring cybersecurity measures for Industrial Control Systems and SCADA environments, using Python scripting and network security expertise.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and SCADA networks supporting power generation and distribution.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses on control system architectures and associated IT/OT interfaces.
- Develop and automate detection, monitoring, and incident response playbooks using Python and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and vendor teams to remediate findings, apply patches, and harden system configurations while ensuring minimal impact on plant availability.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and documentation to staff on best practices for OT cybersecurity and compliance with industry standards (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62443).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience securing Industrial Control Systems, SCADA, or other OT environments.
- Proficiency with network security concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems in OT contexts.
- Strong scripting skills in Python for automation, log analysis, and tool development.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools, incident response processes, and familiarity with NERC CIP or IEC 62443 compliance frameworks.
