Human Factors Engineer responsible for integrating user‑centered design into autonomous systems, conducting usability studies, creating simulation models, and delivering data‑driven recommendations to enhance safety and performance.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Apply human factors principles to design, evaluate, and optimize autonomous system interfaces and workflows.
- Plan and execute usability tests, task analyses, and cognitive workload assessments with subject matter experts and end‑users.
- Develop and run simulation models (MATLAB, Python) to predict operator performance and system behavior under varied conditions.
- Analyze test data, generate quantitative metrics, and produce actionable recommendations for design improvements.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, and mission planners to integrate human‑centered requirements into system architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Human Factors, Cognitive Engineering, Psychology, or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in usability testing methods, task analysis, and risk assessment techniques.
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB and Python for data analysis and simulation.
- Experience working in complex, safety‑critical or defense‑related environments.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical findings to multidisciplinary teams.
