Data Scientist II role focused on applying advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning to health IT data for a DHS program, delivering predictive insights and visualizations to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate predictive and forecasting models using machine learning and statistical techniques.
- Perform exploratory data analysis and create interactive visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and leadership to translate business requirements into data‑driven solutions.
- Clean, transform, and integrate large health‑IT datasets using SQL and scripting languages.
- Document methodologies, model performance, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of professional experience with Python or R for data analysis and machine‑learning model development.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience handling large, complex datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear, actionable data visualizations (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, ggplot2).
- Excellent communication skills and proven experience working with cross‑functional teams in a mission‑critical environment.
