Data Engineer
Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud‑based data warehouses for a DHS health‑IT program, enabling analytics, reporting, and mission‑critical decision making using Python, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, and Airflow.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and load health‑IT data from multiple sources.
- Build and optimize cloud‑based data warehouses on AWS and Snowflake to support analytics, reporting, and forecasting.
- Implement workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow to ensure reliable, scheduled data processing.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and architects to define data models, ensure data quality, and support mission‑critical decision making.
- Apply data governance, security, and compliance best practices in line with DHS requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 3+ years of data engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue) and Snowflake data warehousing.
- Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT design patterns and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Familiarity with data governance, security standards, and best practices for handling sensitive health data.
