Health Information Specialist I responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of healthcare data, applying HIPAA standards, and leveraging EHR, HL7, and FHIR protocols to support data collaboration and analytics initiatives.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and audit health information records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical and IT teams to integrate EHR data into the data collaboration platform, ensuring seamless data flow.
- Apply HL7 and FHIR standards to map, transform, and validate data for analytics and AI projects.
- Develop and execute data quality checks, reporting on data integrity and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of data governance policies and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA privacy and security rules.
- Experience with EHR systems and healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR).
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
