The Business AI Lead Role
We are creating a new cross‑functional “AI‑Powered Continuous Improvement Flywheel” - embedding artificial intelligence into our transformation rhythm to continuously drive up automation, accuracy, and efficiency across the organization.
The Business AI Lead will guide this effort company‑wide: defining strategy, shaping architecture, aligning teams, and ensuring responsible, measurable adoption of AI across all value streams.
As Business AI Lead, you will define, lead, and govern our enterprise AI operating model - from strategy to execution. You’ll work closely with the Head of Transformation, IT Director, and capability owners to embed AI into the company’s continuous improvement engine.
You will be directly responsible for defining and maintaining the end‑to‑end AI architecture - spanning tools, platforms, data pipelines, models, and integrations - in partnership with IT. You’ll also lead the specialized AI Leads for Engineering, Back Office, and CEO Office, ensuring that every AI initiative aligns to our business goals, compliance posture, transformation roadmap and delivers measurable value.
This is both a strategic and technical leadership role, responsible for shaping how AI becomes a foundational layer across how our company operates and grows.
What You’ll Do:
1. AI Strategy, Operating Model & Governance
- Define the company’s business AI strategy, vision, and flywheel execution cadence.
- Lead the design of the AI operating model across people, processes, tools, and controls.
- Establish frameworks for ethical, secure, and responsible AI deployment.
- Report strategic outcomes, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
2. Enterprise AI Architecture Ownership
- Define and maintain the company’s business AI architecture: from platform selection to deployment patterns.
- Work with IT to ensure business AI systems integrate securely and scalably across business functions.
- Own the enterprise AI tool registry and ensure consistency across domains.
- Govern technical decisions related to LLM usage, proprietary models, and workflow integration.
3. Cross‑Functional Alignment
- Lead and coordinate a team of domain‑specific AI Leads.
- Ensure alignment of all AI initiatives with business capability maturity targets.
- Resolve overlaps or conflicts across engineering, back office, and executive automation.
4. Performance, Impact & Adoption
- Define and track KPIs for automation maturity, output accuracy, adoption, and ROI.
- Drive internal reporting and stakeholder education on AI performance and trends.
- Establish internal education programs to improve AI fluency company‑wide.
- Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and practices.
We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience leading business AI strategy, digital transformation, or enterprise automation initiatives.
- Deep understanding of applied AI/ML tools, data architecture, and governance.
- Proven ability to drive cross‑functional collaboration between business, IT, and compliance.
- Strong systems thinker who balances innovation with operational discipline.
- Exceptional communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
Nice to have:
- Experience in robotics, advanced manufacturing, or complex product environments.
- Track record of embedding AI into both technical (engineering) and administrative (back office) processes.
- Familiarity with capability maturity or continuous improvement frameworks (e.g., CMMI, Lean).
What we offer:
- Competitive salary plus participation in our Stock Option Plan
- Paid vacation with adjustments based on your location to comply with local labor laws
- Travel opportunities to our Vancouver and Boston offices
- Office perks: free breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and regular team events
- Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives
- Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics
- Startup culture prioritising speed, transparency, and minimal bureaucracy
