About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design‑phase activities for grid‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, including system architecture, equipment selection, and layout.
- Develop detailed engineering calculations and specifications for power conversion systems (PCS), DC/DC converters, and substation components.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable standards such as UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, IEC 61215/61646/61730, and local building codes.
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to translate design intent into field‑ready solutions.
- Perform technical reviews, risk assessments, and performance simulations to validate system reliability and safety.
- Travel up to 25% to project sites for design verification, stakeholder meetings, and on‑site support.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in solar/PV engineering or large‑scale construction leadership.
- Deep knowledge of battery chemistries, BESS architecture, power electronics, and substation design.
- Proven expertise with UL and NFPA standards, NEC, and relevant IEC codes.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to produce detailed engineering documentation and perform system simulations.
- Willingness to work remotely and travel as needed.
