A Genomic Data Scientist will design and implement computational analyses for cancer genomics projects, leveraging Python, R, and machine‑learning methods to translate large‑scale sequencing data into actionable research insights.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute bioinformatics pipelines for cancer genome sequencing data, ensuring reproducibility and high quality.
- Apply statistical and machine‑learning techniques to identify genomic variants, signatures, and biomarkers relevant to cancer research.
- Collaborate with external research partners and multidisciplinary teams to deliver project milestones on time.
- Interpret scientific literature and integrate emerging methods into existing workflows.
- Communicate results through clear visualisations, reports, and presentations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and pipeline development.
- Strong experience with genomic data types (e.g., WGS, RNA‑seq) and associated analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to apply machine‑learning models to biological datasets.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaborative skills in an agile research environment.
