Engineering Technician 3 - Newport News Shipbuilding

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on shipbuilding equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Use CAD tools to create, modify, and review engineering drawings and schematics for production and repair activities.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to implement effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including work orders, inspection reports, and compliance records.
• Enforce safety and quality standards, participating in safety briefings and audits to uphold a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and standard engineering tools.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a detail‑oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
• Valid U.S. citizenship and ability to work in a regulated shipbuilding environment.
