Engineering Manager
Lead large‑scale engineering projects for Sydney Metro, overseeing delivery, budgets, risk and stakeholder coordination while applying Agile practices and construction expertise.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the planning, execution and delivery of legacy‑building engineering projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule and quality targets.
- Manage project budgets of up to $180k, monitor financial performance and implement cost‑control measures.
- Apply Agile and hybrid project management frameworks to drive efficient team collaboration and iterative delivery.
- Identify, assess and mitigate project risks, maintaining comprehensive risk registers and contingency plans.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders—including government agencies, contractors and community groups—to align expectations and secure approvals.
- Mentor and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering a culture of safety, innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) managing complex engineering or construction projects, preferably in public transport or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMBOK) and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑million dollar budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of navigating regulatory environments.
- Relevant engineering qualification (BEng, MEng) and professional registration (e.g., PE, CPEng) is highly desirable.
