Engineering Manager
Lead a mainframe engineering team, overseeing design, development, and delivery of high‑volume transaction systems using COBOL, DB2, CICS and JCL while driving Agile practices and technical excellence.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of mainframe developers, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture.
- Architect, design, and deliver scalable, reliable transaction processing solutions on IBM Z platforms.
- Drive adoption of Agile and DevOps practices within the mainframe environment, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure code quality, performance tuning, and compliance with security and regulatory standards.
- Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, CICS and JCL.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and delivering complex projects.
- Strong understanding of mainframe architecture, performance optimization, and modernisation strategies.
- Experience implementing Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines in a mainframe context.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
