Engineering Manager who leads one or two high‑performing teams building and scaling Booking's experimentation platform, driving technical decisions, fostering a culture of ownership, and delivering reliable A/B testing services.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor one or two engineering squads, fostering autonomy, collaboration, and continuous growth.
- Own the end‑to‑end delivery of the experimentation platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and low latency for A/B testing.
- Partner with product, data science, and infrastructure teams to define roadmap, prioritize features, and align technical strategy with business goals.
- Drive best practices in code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment (AWS, Kubernetes).
- Influence architectural decisions, promote modern engineering standards, and remove impediments without direct authority.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a people‑management or engineering‑leadership role.
- Strong background in building large‑scale services using Python and/or Java, preferably in a micro‑services environment.
- Deep understanding of experimentation frameworks, A/B testing methodologies, and data‑driven product development.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS), container orchestration, and CI/CD tooling.
- Excellent communication, coaching ability, and a track record of influencing technical direction across distributed teams.
