Software Engineer
Senior system modeling engineer responsible for building and maintaining transmission and generation models, supporting reliability and economic studies, and ensuring compliance with NERC and FERC requirements using tools such as Python and PSS/E.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain detailed transmission and generation models for reliability, economic, and policy analyses.
- Collaborate with internal teams, transmission owners, generator owners, balancing authorities, and RTO/PC stakeholders to gather data and validate model inputs.
- Support ERAG MMWG model development, case preparation, and reporting for planning‑related NERC compliance filings (MOD, TPL) while adhering to OATT/Tariff and FERC/NERC standards.
- Provide technical engineering assistance to internal and external users, ensuring accurate data submissions and model integrity.
- Manage model data repositories, perform quality checks, and generate documentation for model changes and study results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in power system modeling.
- Proficiency in modeling tools such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, or similar, and strong scripting skills in Python or MATLAB.
- In‑depth knowledge of NERC compliance processes, OATT/Tariff requirements, and FERC regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders, manage large data sets, and produce clear technical documentation.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project‑management skills.
